I'm happy with my shopping choices for the most part. Wynne started the day with 2 scrambled eggs, 1/2 piece of toast and some cantaloupe. Interestingly, more than she ever eats in the morning and I wondered to myself if her body was telling her to stock up. If the kids are experiencing a specific type of hunger that comes from no snacking, no extras. I'm keeping a mental tally about what we have left. One loaf of bread gone. One bag of milk gone. Applesauce for one more day of school lunches. And I'm rejoicing in the little victories. The cantaloupe is lasting far better than I thought it would. Fresh ginger soaked in hot water was a fine substitute for my afternoon tea. I'm kicking myself for buying too many mushrooms and not a bag of apples. There is $2.20 in my pocket burning a hole ... waiting to get out. I've told myself that I need to save it until Thursday, when I know we've made it through and still have milk, and bread. If we do, I will use it to buy apples. Something I never had thought of before as one of life's little luxuries.
